Oakley Relocation Supports NCVSD, Helping Homeless Veterans

Feb 19, 2019

Oakley Relocation is proud to support North County Veterans Stand Down. NCVSD is a four-day event that helps homeless veterans receive much-needed services in a safe and secure environment. The third annual event was held at Green Oak Ranch in Vista, California on February 7 through February 10, 2019. Services included home cooked meals, clothing, health/legal care, lodging and job placement.

North County Stand Down Helps Homeless Veterans

“We bring in homeless veterans from all over the county, mostly north county, but all of the county..we bring them in to provide them services,” said Matt Foster, president and chairman of North County Veterans Stand Down. “They are going to get housing services, employment services, and more importantly, immediate medical care, dental care, vision care and legal care.

The event first started in 2015 by Tom Cowan of Escondido. There are an estimated 80,000 veterans in North Country, and Mr. Cowan believed that the community should help the less fortunate veterans and their families. Over the past couple of years, 300 homeless veterans have been helped. More than 3,000 meals have been served and over $112,000 in court fines have been forgiven. Many of the attendees received health and dental care as well as 150 received new glasses that were made on site.
