Surefire Tips for a Successful Moving Day

5 Surefire Tips for a Successful Moving Day

Everyone wants their moving day to go as smooth as possible. It may feel overwhelming and it can be hard to relax when all of your personal belongings are being moved. However, a little preparation can go a long way. Here are some tips from Oakley Relocation that we believe will help you feel more at ease during this sometimes stressful moving process.

Be Present

When you hire Oakley Relocation as your moving company, we welcome your suggestions and value your input. Your presence during the move is beneficial during the packing and pick up phases of your move. It is also important that you review the bill of lading carefully, so you can ensure the mover is providing you with all of the services you require. Lastly, when you are present, you will know exactly what is being packed and how, so when your possessions and belongings arrive at their destination, you will be aware of what is being unloaded first.

Give Yourself and Your Movers Time

No matter how carefully planned out a local move is or a long distance move, unforeseen circumstances can slow down an employee or family member relocation. It is vital to provide not only us, the movers, but you as well, with adequate time to properly inventory everything in your house so that an accurate quote can be provided. When moves are rushed, things may wrong, and bad decisions can be made. Giving yourself leeway will help rectify this situation.

Is There Enough Space for the Moving Trucks?

There has to be space for the Oakley Relocation moving truck to park in front of your residence or in the driveway. Depending on your location it can be difficult to find sufficient parking for the moving truck(s). For instance, if you are moving to/from a high-rise building, valuable time can be wasted looking for a place to park. Making room for our moving vehicles beforehand, will expedite this process, and alleviate headaches for everyone. In some cases you may need a permit or special parking permission for the moving trucks when they arrive.

Labels, Labels, Labels

This process will not only help you when you are unpacking the boxes, but it will also help the team of movers at Oakley Relocation. Be sure to mark “fragile” on any boxes that have breakables in them. Also, by labeling the boxes with which room they belong in, our team of movers will know where they need to put them at your new location. Oakley Relocation also recommends marking the doors at the new place to match the labels on the boxes. For example “bedroom 1”, “upstairs bathroom”, etc…

Important Items

With years of experience relocating families, we truly understand how to make a move as stress free as possible. By packing a bag with toiletries and a change of clothes, phone chargers and keeping that bag with you, you will not have to worry about scouring through boxes right away at your new home. Make sure you inform your movers of who is allowed access to the house if you are not there and provide them with important contact phone numbers in the event they need to reach you enroute.
