A New Beginning in Fallbrook: Supporting Staff Sgt. Jason Pacheco’s Move Home
A New Beginning in Fallbrook: Supporting Staff Sgt. Jason Pacheco’s Move Home
May 04, 2026
On April 16, 2026, in Fallbrook, California, something more meaningful than a typical move took place. As U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jason Pacheco stepped into his new home for the first time, he was welcomed by a crowd of nearly 100 people. Patriotic music played, and the pathway to his front door became a moment of recognition: for his service, his sacrifice, and the road he’s traveled to get here.
This wasn’t just about moving into a house. It was about finally arriving at a place built for his future.
A Home Built for Independence
Staff Sgt. Pacheco received his specially adapted home through the Gary Sinise Foundation. The 2,900-square-foot residence was designed around his daily needs, with four bedrooms and advanced accessibility features that support mobility and independence.
Wider hallways, accessible showers, and carefully designed living spaces mean that everyday routines are easier, and more importantly, fully his own.
A Journey Defined by Service and Determination
To understand the weight of this moment, it helps to understand the journey behind it.
Staff Sgt. Jason Pacheco enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2007, setting his sights on the infantry. He went on to join a Scout Sniper Platoon and graduated at the top of his class from Advanced Urban Sniper School.
In May 2010, he deployed to Afghanistan. Just three months later, during an intense firefight, he stepped on an improvised explosive device. The injuries were severe, traumatic brain injury, limb loss, fractures, and extensive shrapnel wounds.
What followed speaks to who he is:
Recovery with purpose: Within months, he was learning to walk, and then run, again.
Return to duty: In April 2011, he became one of the first Marine amputees to return to a combat zone on full duty.
Continued leadership: He later served as a sniper instructor before medically retiring in 2019.
Life beyond service: Today, he competes in adaptive sports, playing hockey and training in track with goals of reaching the U.S. Paralympic Team.
This home represents more than accessibility. It represents everything it took to get here.
Planning the Move with Care and Precision
Moves like this require more than logistics. They require understanding.
Evaluating how medical equipment would be transported safely
Planning the layout to match the home’s accessibility features
Ensuring every item would arrive ready to be placed with purpose
This kind of preparation is a core part of how Atlas approaches military relocations, because every move carries a different set of needs.
Experience That Supports Military Families
Military moves come with unique challenges. Frequent transitions, tight timelines, and personal circumstances require a higher level of coordination and care.
Atlas brings decades of experience supporting service members and their families. As a recipient of the Military Moving Excellence Award, the team understands what’s at stake during these transitions—and what it takes to get it right.
For the Pacheco family, that meant consistent communication, reliable execution, and a team that treated the move with the respect it deserved.
Moving Day: Done Right, Start to Finish
On moving day, the focus is always the same: deliver a smooth, well-coordinated transition from start to finish.
The Atlas crew typically provides:
Full-service packing to protect personal belongings
Careful handling of furniture and fragile items
Stretch-wrapping and residence protection
Efficient unloading and setup
Each move is approached with attention to detail, so everything arrives safely and is placed where it needs to be, helping the home feel organized and functional from the moment Staff Sgt. Pacheco arrived.
Setting Up a Home That Works
Accessibility doesn’t end at the front door. It continues in how a home is set up.
The Atlas team took extra care to ensure:
Clear pathways for wheelchair access
Proper placement of furniture within widened spaces
Full usability of adaptive features and smart home elements
The move was part of something bigger than logistics.
The welcome ceremony included a “Walls of Honor” tribute, where friends, supporters, and community members left messages for the Pacheco family. It was a visible reminder that this moment was shared, built on support from organizations, volunteers, and people who understand what his service means.
From the Gary Sinise Foundation to local volunteers and the Atlas team, this was a collective effort to create something lasting.
A Fresh Start, Surrounded by Support
For Staff Sgt. Pacheco and his family, this home marks a new chapter. One built around independence, stability, and the ability to move forward, on their terms.
It’s also a reminder that behind every successful move is a network of people working together to make it happen.
