How to Return Your Spectrum Equipment

May 17, 2021

When preparing for a move, it’s always a challenge to think about the logistics of returning the TV, Internet, and Voice equipment you’ve used.

All equipment issued by Spectrum for TV, Internet, or Voice services remains company property and you’ll be responsible for giving back most of it, including modems, routers, and auxiliary equipment. Spectrum doesn’t require that remotes and cables be returned.

The professional moving team at Oakley Relocation knows you have a lot on your mind before, during, and after your moving day. From the planning and packing to unloading and settling into your new home or office space, returning your Spectrum equipment is one of the many moving pieces you have to put together to make your relocation successful.

We want to make your move as easy as possible, so our staff has created a list you can follow when determining how to return your Spectrum equipment. While everyone’s needs may be slightly different, this list includes a number of options you can choose from, as well as additional information that can be helpful with the process.

Return Equipment with UPS

You can return Spectrum equipment to any UPS store:

  • Bring your items to the store and mention that you’re a Spectrum customer. You won’t be charged, and UPS will take care of shipping the equipment back to Spectrum.
  • You must return equipment to a UPS Store only, as not all UPS locations are UPS stores. To find the nearest store near you, use the UPS Store Locator Tool. Make sure to keep your receipt to track the shipment.

Some Equipment Can Be Returned with FedEx

While returning your equipment to a Spectrum Store or UPS store is recommended, you can also make a return with FedEx.

Only certain pieces of Spectrum equipment can be returned using FedEx:

  • Receivers, including HD and DVR receivers
  • DOCSIS 2.0 WiFi gateway devices (this is a modem/router combo)
  • DOCSIS 3.0 modems
  • DOCSIS 3.0 gateway devices (this is a modem/router combo)
  • WiFi routers
  • Spectrum Voice modems

Use your return label (if your Spectrum equipment came with one) and attach it to a cardboard shipping box that is free of old labels. Properly seal the box and send it to Spectrum.

You can also take your box to any FedEx Office location, however, do not use a FedEx Drop Box.

Drop Items Off at a Spectrum Store

There are a number of Spectrum store locations in the Oakley Relocation service area around San Diego and other parts of California.

While older equipment can be returned via UPS or FedEx, you can also make a drop off at a Spectrum store. Find a store near you.

Special Circumstances

  • Customers with disabilities may be eligible for equipment pickup. Contact Spectrum for more information or to make a request.
  • Sick customers or those in quarantine because of COVID-19 have a 60-day return extension. Unreturned equipment fees are normally charged for equipment that isn’t returned by the due date with this exception. Equipment should be taken to one of the described locations only after receiving clearance from a medical professional.
  • Apple TV’s can be returned. You must return your device within 14 days of purchase and it must be in the original packaging/condition. Return your Apple TV to a UPS store.
