Student Movers for San Diego State and the College Area
Around San Diego State, everyone moves at once. The residence halls open in August with assigned move-in times, and most off-campus leases in the College Area end that same month, so trucks, elevators and curb space near campus are in demand for a few weeks. In May it runs the other way, as students clear out of the halls and apartments after spring finals.

Beating the August Rush
If the new lease starts in August, book the move the moment the dates are set, because those weeks go first. When an apartment building sets a window for the elevator or the loading area, we plan the truck around it. For the residence halls, SDSU assigns each student a move-in time and enforces parking near the halls closely, so a delivery there has to line up with that slot.
What We Ask Before Quoting a College Area Move
- What's moving. A residence hall room, a shared house and a two-bedroom apartment are very different loads, so we start with a list.
- Stairs and elevators. A third-floor walk-up takes longer than a ground-floor unit, and some buildings want the elevator reserved.
- The calendar. Late August and the weeks after spring finals are the busiest around campus.
- The gap. If move-out and move-in land on different days, the quote includes a stop at storage in between.
Small Moves and Summer Storage
A typical student load fits in a small truck: a bed frame, a desk, a dresser, a mini fridge and the boxes. That's what our small moves service is for, and a shared house or a bigger apartment goes to our apartment movers. When one lease ends in May or June and the next doesn't start until August, we can pick everything up, keep it in storage and deliver it to the new place, which beats hauling it home and back.
When the Parents Are Out of State
If your student is coming from another state, you probably can't be there to walk a mover through the room, and you don't need to be. Send an inventory list, or hold up your phone for an Inside Sales Representative during a video survey, and you'll get a written estimate. The cost of an interstate move is set by how heavy the shipment is and how many miles it goes, with packing counted per carton. With a binding estimate, the price only moves if you add items or services, change where it's delivered or change the load date. The long distance moving page walks through the rest.
SDSU Moving Questions
How much does a small move near SDSU cost?
A local move is billed by the hour, crew plus truck, so the size of the load and the stairs decide it. The current hourly rate is a quick call to 1.858.360.1569, or send a list of what's moving for a written estimate.
Where will the truck park in the College Area?
Wherever the curb signs on your block allow. Parts of the neighborhood are in permit parking Area B on weekdays, and apartment complexes have their own rules about loading, so we check both before moving day.
