Temecula Moving, From Wine Country Estates to Redhawk
Out in wine country, past the tasting rooms on Rancho California Road and along De Portola Road, homes sit on several acres, some behind a gate with a long private drive up to the house. Moving one of those estates is a different job from a two-story in Redhawk or Harveston, and the difference starts at the bottom of the driveway.

When the Truck Can't Make the Driveway
A full-size truck wants a wide gate, room to turn and ground firm enough to hold it. Some wine country drives have all of that. Others are narrow or steep, and some are gravel with a tight turn at the gate. When the survey turns up a drive like that, the plan includes a shuttle truck, small enough for the drive, running loads out to the big truck parked on the road. It adds time, so it belongs in the estimate from the start. We'll also need the gate code, or someone to open the gate, and a spot for the crew to park that doesn't block your drive.
Wine Collections and Fine Furniture
- Wine. Bottles travel in divided cartons, one cell per bottle, labeled by rack or shelf so the collection goes back the way it came out. In warm months the wine loads last and comes off first, so it spends as little time as possible in a hot truck.
- Wine fridges. They travel empty and upright. Give one a few hours after delivery before you plug it back in.
- Marble, glass and art. Tabletops, mirrors and large paintings get custom crates or heavy padding. Our fine art moving guide goes deeper into crating and handling art.
- Heavy furniture. Armoires, carved dining sets and pieces like a safe or a piano are specialty items, planned with the right equipment and enough hands.
Old Town and the Planned Neighborhoods
Most Temecula moves happen in master-planned communities like Redhawk, Wolf Creek, Harveston, Paloma del Sol and Morgan Hill. Those are ordinary suburban moves, two-story houses on neighborhood streets, with an HOA packet worth reading for truck rules. Old Town is busier, with shoppers and diners on Front Street, so moves there go best on a weekday morning. Moving a shop or an office? That's a job for our Temecula commercial movers.
What Changes a Temecula Estimate
We see the property first, in person, or on video if you're still out of the area, and you'll have a written estimate. Here the swing factors are the driveway (shuttle or not), the number of pieces that need crates, how much wine and glass needs packing, and where you're going. Moves around Temecula and down to San Diego County are billed hourly for crew and truck. A move to Northern California or another state is priced by weight and mileage, plus packing per unit, and a binding estimate won't move unless you change what's going, what we're doing, where it's headed or when it loads.
A Few Temecula Questions
Is Temecula within your service area?
Yes. Temecula is a run up I-15 from San Marcos, where our office is. Coming up from San Diego yourself? Start with our guide to relocating to Temecula.
How much does it cost to move a wine country estate?
It depends mostly on the driveway and the crating, which is why we don't quote one over the phone without seeing the property. Call 1.858.360.1569 to set up the survey and ask about current hourly rates.
